Megan B.
Private tutor in Glen Allen, VA
Education
I hold an MA in Spanish & Spanish American Literature from the #1 program in the nation: The University of Virginia. As part of my undergraduate studies, I lived and studied in Spain and Costa Rica for two years, made the Dean's List every semester and earned the Caribbean & Latin American Studies Writing Prize for the best piece of the 2006-2007 academic year.
Experience
I have over 10 years of tutoring experience and have used my translation skills in business, taught two years of advanced Spanish language courses at the University of Virginia and three years of all levels of Spanish at St. Anne's-Belfield School. I love teaching in a classroom setting, but nothing compares to the one-on-one interaction and first row seat to the "aha!" moments that I enjoy as a tutor. Through teaching Spanish, I have come to learn that most of my students were never properly taught English grammar and struggle with general writing skills, so I am happy to tutor in those areas as well. Parents will receive prompt feedback via email after each lesson. I also offer free online support after lessons, where appropriate.

Hobbies
I am a distance running coach, animal lover and avid equestrian. I am very involved in my community, and am especially proud of my involvement with the Alzheimer's Association and the UVA Club of Richmond, where I serve as Vice President. In my abundant free time (ha!), I have personally rehabilitated my two horses, SPCA mutt “Humphrey” and reformed New York City alley cat, “Mom” (yes, her name causes a lot of confusion). I own and manage the equestrian facility that my four-legged dependents call home.
